Carmes canyon
A small canyon with amazing geological formations
Half-day (3 hours of activity)
Approach hike: 30 minutes
Time spent in the water: 2 hours
Return: 15 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Suitable for children aged 8 and up, this route takes you through a narrow canyon, descending mainly by rappelling as only a small slide marks the beginning of the descent.
Description: The Carmes canyon is a route descended mainly by abseiling, as only a small natural slide marks the beginning of the descent. The canyon features a striking narrow gorge and waterfalls that appear to be frozen in the limestone. This is an opportunity to learn how to rappel independently. Here, you can take your time because the canyon is not very aquatic and is surrounded by nature. It’s the ideal route to learn more about the geology, fauna, and flora of the Vercors canyons.
We organize a nature scavenger hunt in this canyon upon request. To find out more, visit our “Nature Activities” page or contact us.
